fffffffff
Hello! 🇺🇸 Hola! 🇦🇷 Oi! 🇧🇷
My name is Felipe Aggio and I’m an Argentinian-Brazilian-American associate professional counselor practicing at Midtown Psychotherapy Associates. I specialize in working with couples, males, adults, teens (14-17), emerging adults (18-25), and those experiencing severe life disruptions such as from mental health disorders, incarceration, PTSD, or complex trauma. I’m particularly passionate about working with the Latino, BIPOC, and Queer communities and with males experiencing normative male alexithymia (difficulty identifying and expressing emotions).
I have successfully worked through a trauma-informed lens with clients through challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, acculturation/racist experiences, low self-concept, academic stress, interpersonal and relationship issues, family conflict, complex trauma, and dual diagnosis.
Current Areas of Emphasis
- Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT)
- EFCT is a highly effective, research-backed approach rooted in Attachment Theory (our fear of losing connection), Systems Theory (problems operate in a loop), and Experiential Theory (we need to feel it to believe it). Instead of teaching temporary communication tricks, I see your relational conflict as a threat to your emotional safety. I see your relationship as an interconnected system: neither of you is the enemy, rather the toxic fighting cycle itself is. My job is to slow you down, so you can acknowledge and feel the pain, communicate your emotions, facilitate an understanding response, and stabilize the cycle. Once the cycle has less control, we will then work on restructuring your bond.

Client Conceptualization
I typically conceptualize my clients using an integrative lens that combines Person-centered (Humanistic) and Relational-Cultural Theory. I believe that honest and transparent communication as the key to progress and interpersonal connection as the key to healing. I use evidenced based interventions from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gestalt Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to attend to the present moment, provide corrective learning experiences, process emotions, and elicit change.
My Pitch to You
I am dedicated to improving my clients’ mental health and would love to have the opportunity to work with you. Regardless of your background, I will always encourage you to speak your mind freely without filtering your experience. Nevertheless, therapy is a two-way street which means it’s critical that you like your therapist. Please schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me so you can see if we’d be a good fit.
